In early 2016 our first Residential Therapeutic Community will open and young people will come to live as part of Transitions and begin a life changing journey.
Transitions Residential Therapeutic Communities is registered in England and Wales as a charitable company limited by guarantee, Company no. 08805909, Charity no. 1157388.
Here are some milestones in the story so far:
October 2011 – Early 2012
A business case proposal was prepared, contrasting different models of residential care with funding options, and initially explored with FutureHope the first charitable project set-up by our founder.
Latter Part of 2012
A group of individuals distinct from FutureHope, were invited to attend an initial meeting on 8th December to share and discuss the vision in more depth. A steering group was duly formed, meeting regularly for most of 2013, including those with experience in residential rehabilitation for drugs and alcohol, youth homelessness, youth work and ministry, church leadership and the charity sector, as well as a GP (involved in health commissioning), organisational consultant and property developer.
End of 2012
Even before the initial meeting, an offer of housing was received for the project, which will accommodate up to 5 young people.
Thanks to a generous gift, Mark started working 1 day per week to raise funds and set up Transitions.
A board of directors was agreed and Transitions Residential Therapeutic Communities was successfully registered as a company (no. 08805909), completing the first part of the application process to become a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee.
A generous donation was received enabling Transitions to engage Mark as a consultant for 2-3 days per week, until the board appointed him as Chief Executive of Transitions RTC.
Transitions was registered as a charity, no. 1157388, in England and Wales.
